G.S. PREGNANESE
SINCE 1948 MORE 50 YEARS OF SPORTING ACTIVITY

In the far 1948, when a tiny group of young people, almost everyone returning from the World War II, meet with the intention to give life to a sporting association, nobody think that would be continued so long. 

On 1° January 1948, in that winter evening at the S.Martino restaurant, the Gruppo Sportivo Pregnanese (G.S.P.) is born with the approval of the Constitution and the signature by the first President: G.Castiglioni.

It has been the need to involve part of young people of Pregnana within a sportive association with the objective to give life to recreational, sane and vigorous association. 

It considers the economic, logistic and structural difficulties of that period,  to better understand because G.S.P. selects the cycling as first activity;  in that time the most popular sport  lived its historical years with Coppi, Bartali and many others.

But the cycling team gives huge satisfaction to the society with of numerous victories of Pirovano, Uboldi and overall of PIERO ANTONINI, king of the rush.

In 1953 the first football team "juniors" is born , even if G.S.P. hasn't available a football field in Pregnana. 

It's cause of those problems that the cycling remains the main activity of GSP. 

In 1965 MORENA TARTAGNI arrives in female cycling team. During the first year the results aren't exciting, due to young age of the athlete and the few experience at high level of the society.

But with the arrival of the valid and competent Director as Alfredo Bonaria there's a turning point.

In 1967 with the 10 victories on road and the Italian jersey on track racing with the conquest by Tartagni it's the beginning of a long series of triumphs. 

In 1968 MORENA TARTAGNI wins 9 races and on 17 July at Cadorago (Como) enters into gold register of the Italian cycling winning the title of the Italian Championship on Road-Racing. 

On 31 august 1968 in Imola it takes place the World Championships (Women Road-Racing) and, between the general skepticism, MORENA TARTAGNI conquests a wonderful 3° place, a consecration of memorable season. Never an Italian athlete arrived so high on podium, and thanks to her, by means this success, she conquests an elite place in the Italian cycling. The specialist press emphasizes that event making a great propaganda to Gruppo Sportivo Pregnanese.

On the wings of this success on 28 October 1968, within the Olympic ring of Rome, Morena Tartagni realizes the World Track Racing Record on the 3 km, till then undisputed power of Soviet and Belgian athletes.

Thanks to these successes the society starts with the new season with great objectives and it reinforces with the engagement of other athletes as the Belgian Nicole Van Den Broeck (winner of the world title in 1973 at  Barcelona). During the season it gets several successes (14 victories), but the objective is still the Italian Championships.

The objective is centered on 3 august 1969 at Oggiona (Varese). However a starting fall of MORENA TARTAGNI, for the second consecutive year, wins the race:  prestigious success for her and the Gruppo Sportivo Pregnanese.

The 1970 is another rich year of many satisfactions. It conquests in fact 14 victories, but it fails by a hare's breadth the conquest of Italian Title on Road-Racing in Merano. Fifteen days after, in Leicester (England) Tartagni and the Gruppo Sportivo Pregnanese are on the verge of the more clamorous success that every sportmen can desire: the World Title. At the end of a hard and combat racing, ended with a chaotic sprint, Tartagni has beaten at the post by  the Soviet Konkina.

Thanks to the numerous successes in the following years the female cycling sport acquires in Italy a great notoriety, becoming a good advertising vehicle; but for the sportive societies the management costs increase too much. 

For this reason, reluctantly, GSP decides to leave this sport.  Starting from here the sports history moves to football, beginning with the young team and afterwards also with major category teams. 

In 1975 with the inauguration of the office in  Via Leopardi it has a major involvement of young people within the sporting group and also at company level there is a more strong commitment to do. So it begins to arrive always more important results both from the young and also from the major football teams.
